SANTINO BONTEMPO

The name Bontempo comes from Old Italian and is the combination of bono, ‘good’, plus tempo, ‘time’, something that's key as a DJ, but perhaps more importantly, the ability to facilitate sum of its roots into a 'good time' – Santino has this. A Florida transplant originally from Cleveland, he studied Recording Arts at Full Sail University in Orlando. His First foray into music is the same as many a young angst ridden teenager, singing and playing guitar in a punk rock band. Moving from the garage and into basements, he picked up dance music in a literally and structurally underground house environment, falling deeply in love with the more progressive sounds. Today, his heart and mind is firmly rooted in a common ground between house and techno with interest in breaks, progressive, and the rougher, sometimes straight up acid, edges. With no limitations on his style as a DJ and Producer, Santino has had a slew of releases in the past years including his ‘Time Will Tell’ EP and ‘The Wits About Me’ EP, in which both independent EPs were delivered and welcomed by DJs and fans, reaching the Top 10 Releases category on Beatport, with ‘Time Will Tell’ touching #1 for releases in the Breaks/Breakbeat category. An also highly notable EP of his released on Back Door Records and titled ‘For The Life Of Me’, reached #1 for releases in the Electro category on Beatport including his track ‘Not What You Think’, a popular Deep House cut, has been played on radio stations world wide.

Santino has held a residency at Morph Night Club in St. Petersburg, FL, the first dedicated dance music venue in St. Pete since the late 90’s, played music festivals like Distant Dimension and has delivered vibe appropriate sets at Miami Music Week yacht parties. Off the decks and in every day life, Santino spends allotted time as a free lance audio engineer, teaches production and engineering lessons, and hosts networking and educational events like his Producer Meetups and his newest venture, Sonically Speaking.
